Over the past 20 years David has been teaching chess across Tameside and other parts of Greater Manchester, mainly on a face to face basis.

Also, Regional Co-ordinator for Manchester for Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC) responsible for 21 schools of which he teaches in several of those

Chess tuition is available for all regardless of age, ability and location.

Now as we are in the age of Zoom and Skype etc tutoring and coaching can now be provided online to anywhere in the country if required. Sessions are usually of an hours duration once a week or fortnight. Many of the players taught have played for their County, won National titles and represented England.

The videos and pdfs in this section have been chosen specifically as they provide a great start point for beginners. The lessons are set out exactly how chess is taught in school by CSC to make sure that the player understands fully before moving on to the next lesson. We strongly recommend that these are completed in full before any one to one tuition.

The learning programme continues at our club which is held each week building on the knowledge they have gained. Each player gets both group and personal input.

David is “DBS Enhanced” checked.
